රජ පවුලක්‌ ලෙස සදාකල් රජකම් කළ හැකි යෑයි සිතෙන අපවිත්‍ර දේශපාලන සංකල්පනාව වෙනස්‌ කිරීම සඳහා අත්වැල් බැඳගත යුතු කාලය දැන් එළැඹ තිබෙන බව විපක්‍ෂයේ ජනාධිපතිවරණ පොදු අපේක්‍ෂක මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා පූගොඩ, කිරිල්ලවල, බියගම හැටන් සහ මාලබේ පැවති ජනහමුවලදී පසුගියදා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

ඡන්දයක්‌ පැමිණි විට පමණක්‌ කුමක්‌ හෝ ලබාදී යළි බලයට එන්න පුළුවන් කියන ජනාධිපතිගේ විශ්වාසය බිඳීම සඳහා මෙවර ඔබේ කතිරය භාවිතා කරන ලෙස ජනතාවගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටින බවත් මෛත්‍රීපාල මහතා එහිදී සඳහන් කළේය.
එහිදී තව දුරටත් අදහස්‌ දැක්‌වූ මෛත්‍රිපාල සිරිසේන මහතා මෙසේද පැවසීය.
මහ වැසි නොතකා පුළුල් දේශපාලන අරමුණක්‌ වෙනුවෙන් ඔබ කරනා මේ කැපකිරීම මා අගය කරනවා. කඩුවෙල මට නුහුරු නුපුරුදු තැනක්‌ නොවේ. අද තිබෙන ආණ්‌ඩුව 2005 දී අපි බලයට පත් කළ විට ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨ රණ විරුවෙක්‌ වන යුද හමුදාපති සරත් ෆොන්සේකා මහතා ඇතුළු රණ විරුවන් මේ රට බේරා ගත්තා. 2009 මැයි 18 වැනිදා රටේ හැම තැනම වගේ කඩුවෙල ජනතාවත් වීථි බැස මහා රජාණෝ යෑයි ජනාධිපතිට ජය ඝෝෂා නැගුවා. ඇත්තටම මාත් රජෙක්‌ නේද කියලා ජනාධිපතිතුමාට එහිදී හිතුණාවත්ද?

සරත් ෆොන්සේකාට එරෙහි නඩු ඇතුළු 
නීති ගැටලුවලට සහන දෙන්න ජනපති එකඟ වුණා
ජයන්ත කැටගොඩ කියයිහිටපු හමුදාපති සරත් ෆොන්සේකා මහතාට එරෙහිව පවතින සියලු නඩු සහ අනෙකුත් නීතිමය ගැටලුවලට කෙටි කාලයක්‌ ඇතුළත සහන ලබාදීමට ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්‍ෂ මහතා තමාට පොරොන්දු වූ බව ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී පක්‍ෂයේ හිටපු නියෝජ්‍ය නායක පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී ජයන්ත කැටගොඩ මහතා පසුගියදා (19 වැනිදා) ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස්‌ පක්‍ෂ මූලස්‌ථානයේ පැවති මාධ්‍ය හමුවකදී අනාවරණය කළේය.
ආරක්‍ෂක ලේකම් ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්‍ෂ මහතා සමග කළ සාකච්ඡාවකින් අනතුරුව ජනාධිපතිවරයා එම පොරොන්දුව ලබාදුන් බවත් ඒ අනුව ඉදිරි කාලයේදී සියලු නඩු හා අනෙකුත් නීතිමය ප්‍රශ්න අවසන් වනු ඇතැයිද හෙතෙම කියා සිටියේය.
"සරත් ෆොන්සේකා මහතාට ඇති නඩු ඉවත් කර දෙන ලෙසත් ෆොන්සේකා මහතාගේ කොළඹ ඉඩමේ ගැටලුව සහ බැංකුවක තැම්පත්කර තිබූ රුපියල් කෝටි හතේ මුදල් ගැටලුවත් නිරාකරණය කර දෙන මෙන් මම ආරක්‍ෂක ලේකම්වරයා හමුවී ඉල්ලීමක්‌ කළා. ඔහු එවිට මට පැවසුවේ සියලු නඩු සහ අනෙකුත් ප්‍රශ්න ඉවත් කර දීමට කටයුතු කරන බව යෑයි හෙතෙම මාධ්‍ය හමුවේ කියා සිටියේය.
අධිකරණයේ විභාගවන නඩුවක්‌ ඉවත් කිරීමට ආරක්‍ෂක ලේකම්වරයාට ඇති හැකියාව කුමක්‌ද යන්න එහිදී මාධ්‍යවේදියකු ජයන්ත කැටගොඩ මහතාගෙන් විමසා සිටි අතර එහිදී ඔහුගේ පිළිතුර වූයේ "නැහැ සහනයක්‌ ලබාදීමේ හැකියාව තිබෙනවා. ජනාධිපති මෙම ප්‍රශ්නය වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටින නිසා ඔහුට ඒ සඳහා මුක්‌තියේ අයිතිය තිබෙනවා" යන්නයි.

Maithri pledges war crime inquiry


Opposition Common Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena said the country cannot be charged with war crimes in the International Criminal Court, but he will launch a domestic inquiry if he wins a January election.

Maithripala Sirisena said in a policy statement on Friday that Sri Lanka has not ratified the statute that established the international court, and that he would therefore institute an investigation by a local independent court.
 Mr. Sirisena is challenging President Mahinda Rajapaksa for the presidency.

Positive response on relief for SF: Ketagoda

Parliamentarian Jayantha Ketagoda who was a member of the Democratic Party led by former army commander Sarath Fonseka said today that both President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa had responded positively to his request to grant relief to Fonseka.

“I had discussions with President Rajapaksa and the Defence Secretary on restoring Mr. Fonseka’s military rank and decorations including his pension. I also requested that the Rs.70 million frozen in his bank account be released to him. They said they will consider my requests positively after the poll. I believe, the release of Dhanuna Tillekaratne’s release today is an indication of that,” Mr. Ketagoda told media at today’s news briefing at the SLFP head office.

Mr. Ketagoda said he did not accept any perks or financial gratuities for his support to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the only condition he set for the support was to give relief to his erstwhile former party Chief Sarath Fonseka.

He said he had no doubt that President Rajapaksa and the Defence Secretary would fulfil their pledge and provide relief to Mr. Fonseka after the Presidential election if President Rajapaksa was elected on January 8.

Mr. Ketagoda said after the discussions he realized that neither President Rajapaksa not the Defence Secretary held any grudge against Mr. Fonseka as thought by many and was of the view that Mr. Fonseka would be a free man with all his perks and military decorations restored in the New Year.

He added that his only objective of joining the UPFA in support of President Rajapaksa was to get relief for Mr. Fonseka.

Dhanuna surrenders, granted bail

Colombo High Court Judge Irangani Perera this morning granted bail to former army Commander Sarath Fonseka’s son-in-law Dhanuna Thilakaratne on Rs 400,000 cash with two sureties for Rs 5 million on each of them in the HiCorp case..
The judge said the sureties should be his parents.
 The accused was also restrained from going abroad. He was ordered to be present before the CID on the first Sundays of every month.
 Counsel Niroshana Perera surrounding the accused in court said to the Judge that the accused had absconded court for his safety. He said the court could grant bail to the suspect in a public Property Act offence if the bail application was tendered under   exceptional circumstances.
 He said the suspect had absconded court due to the prevailed situation in the country at that time. He said his client’s uncle Sarath Fonseka, was in remand for more than one and a half years as a result of his being contesting President Mahinda Rajapaksa in the past Presidential Election.
 Thereafter Danuna Thilakaratne was accused to have defrauded the army by forwarding forged documents in the name of the locally registered British Borneo Defense Company of Australia. He said during the case Dhanuna absconded court but was   represented by lawyers in absentia..
The Counsel said Danuna’s mother and his grand mother were indicted for alleged offences and the Police had obtained warrants for the arrest of his client who was innocent.
He aid the police had offered rewards for   his arrest and his client considering those had evaded court for his safety. Therefore Dhanuna’s bail application should be considered as an exceptional circumstance to grant bail.(TFT)

Ranil capable of taking on Mahinda, says SF

 ‘Common candidate should be from a major party’

The Democratic Party (DP) yesterday said that it was exploring the possibility of fielding a candidate of its own at the forthcoming presidential election in case the Opposition failed to reach an agreement on a common candidate.

Addressing the media at the DP head office, former army commander Gen. Sarath Fonseka, said his party had two options.

Gen. Fonseka said that the DP would throw its weight behind the Opposition project only if a suitable person was fielded as the common candidate. Whoever received the nomination, he or she should have done a tremendous amount of work for the country, he said..............
