CaFFE accuses Colombo Mayor of inaction

Campaign for Free and Fair Election (CaFFE) yesterday charged that the Colombo Mayor, A. J. M. Muzammil, had not heeded the directions of the Election Commissioner (EC) Mahinda Deshapriya, to remove 1800 illegal cutouts of presidential candidate, Mahinda Rajapaksa, if those were displayed in the city limits sans paying the requisite fees to the Municipality.

Executive Director, CaFFE, Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon told The Island that even before the 2015 presidential election was declared those cutouts were seen in Colombo and informed the EC in writing on November 25 to take necessary measures to remove them as they had been put up in clear violation of election laws.
